The Marshall Invitational created a great contest in which Class 1 teams were able to test themselves against some larger competition. Several of the larger schools did not bring their best lineups, which gave some of their younger wrestlers great experience.
The greatest takeaway from this weekend’s tournament is the continued dominance of Gallatin. They have some great individual wrestlers, however, their greatest accomplishments are the team wins they have already racked up. They showed again why they are the 3rd ranked Class 1 team by coming away with a convincing victory.
The finals brought us a plethora of great matchups.
Mills from Marshall was able to overcome a losing record to make it to the finals in a matchup against Scheer from Southern Boone. Scheer was able to come away with a nice 8-3 Decision victory against the Class 3 wrestler. Scheer is currently undefeated on the season but is not ranked in Class 2. He only had a few matches under his belt coming into the tournament, so don’t be surprised if we see him in the rankings after the next update.
This weight-class gave us a matchup of two of the best in the state. Undefeated Critten, from Gallatin, faced off against Jury from Brookfield.
