Center building back up with tougher Class 2 District 4 field expected

By: Ross Martin

The task would have been difficult for Center — no matter the extenuating circumstances. The Yellowjackets lost four senior captains from last year’s team and now must rebuild with a likely tougher postseason path.

Trevor Rey (170 pounds) and Marquan Dickerson (285) pounds were Center’s lone qualifiers for the Class 2 Missouri State Wrestling Championships in 2019, going a combined 1-4. They are gone along with Kardan Lee (132) and Josh Sneed (120), leaving a mostly inexperienced roster to push forward in a revamped Class 2 District 4 field that might make qualifiers even tougher to come by.

Odessa — last year’s Class 2 third-place finisher at state — and traditional power Oak Grove return. Center was 10th out of 14 teams in the field a year ago.
