No. 4 @MizzouWrestling Ready to Host No. 14 Cornell at Jesse Auditorium Sunday

Zou Notes
• Mizzou enters the dual ranked No. 4 in the USA Today/NWCA Coaches poll and No. 5 in the Intermat Tournament Rankings.
• Mizzou currently holds a 34-dual win streak. The last time Mizzou lost a dual was Jan. 31, 2014, to Oklahoma State, 709 days ago.
• The Tigers lead the all-time series between the two schools, 5-3. In the last meeting, Mizzou beat Cornell, 27-9, on Jan. 10, 2015, in Ithaca, N.Y.
• There will be five ranked vs. ranked matches on Sunday. (125, 133, 165, 174, & 184).
• Cornell is Mizzou’s fourth top-25 opponent of the season, ranking No. 14 in the USA Today/NWCA Coaches poll and No. 8 in the Intermat Tournament Rankings. 
• Redshirt junior 149-pounder Lavion Mayes is a perfect 14-0 on the season, the Tigers’ only wrestler with an unblemished record. Mayes is 5-0 in dual competition, scoring 17 points in five victories.
• Sunday’s dual will take place at Jesse Auditorium inside Jesse Hall on the Mizzou campus, the second time Mizzou has wresetled in Jesse (2013).

Back in Jesse
• Sunday will be the second time Mizzou has hosted a dual at Jesse Auditorium. The Tigers defeated Ohio, 23-10, on Dec. 6, 2013.
• The dual vs. Ohio was the first sporting competition to ever take place in Jesse Auditorium. Upwards of 1,000 fans watched the Tigers defeat the Bobcats. 
• Three Tigers who plan to wrestle Sunday picked up wins in the Ohio dual, including redshirt sophomore 125-pounder Barlow McGhee, redshirt junior 141-pounder Matt Manley (then 133), and redshirt junior 149-pounder Lavion Mayes (then 141).

Search of 100
• Junior 197-pounder J’den Cox earned his 90th career win on Jan. 8 with a 19-4 technical fall over James Benjamin (Buffalo). 
• The Columbia, Mo. native now stands 10 victories away from the 24th member of the 100-Win Club in Mizzou history. For his career, Cox is 90-5 overall and captured the 197-pound championship in 2014 as a freshman.
• This season, Cox is 15-1 and 5-1 in dual competition, recording 23 points via one fall, two technical falls, a major decision, and a decision. Cox earned individual championships at the Joe Parisi Open and Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational.

Dual Win Streak
• Mizzou has won 34 consecutive duals, dating back Jan. 31, 2014. The last dual lost for Mizzou came by the hands of Oklahoma State, 709 days ago.

Dual Domination
• Mizzou has outscored its opponents 180-70 in five duals this season
• Redshirt sophomore 184-pounder Willie Miklus leads the team with 31 points in duals, tallying three falls, two technical falls, and a decision win. Miklus beat then-No. 11 Kenny Courts (Ohio State) by way of 15-0 technical fall on Dec. 12.
• Junior 197-pounder J’den Cox has recorded a fall, two technical falls, a major decision, and a decision for 23 points. Cox recorded a fall over Jerald Spohn (Kent State) on Dec. 20, his first fall in regular season dual competition since Jan. 25, 2015 against Alec Brown (Northern Illinois).

Mayes Undefeated

• Redshirt junior 149-pounder Lavion Mayes has yet to drop a match this season, posting a 15-0 this season, 6-0 in duals. Mayes, an NCAA All-American (seventh place) a season ago at 141 pounds, has not had any struggles after being bumped up to 149 pounds at the beginning of the year. Mayes has captured two open championships this year, winning the Joe Parisi Open and the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational. The final three wins at Cliff Keen came over opponents currently ranked in the top-20. The Illinois native has scored bonus points in eight of 15 matches this season, tallying six major decisions and two falls. In Mayes’ four dual wins, he has outscored his opponents, 74-37.
