Where to Watch: UFC Fight Pass at 7PM CT
A banged up Missouri team will compete at Arrowhead High School in Hartland, Wisconsin against another top ten dual team in Northern Iowa. The event takes place on UFC Fight Pass at Keegan O’Toole’s alma mater, and will likely be filled with AWA wrestlers. The Panthers just took out #17 South Dakota State in a nailbiter with a 16-15 win on criteria. Missouri is likely to be missing Noah Surtin, Cam Steed, and Rocky Elam with various injuries. Colton Hawks missed the Illinois dual, but it’s possible he’s back for this one.
An even more banged up Missouri team had to give up forfeits and put in multiple backups last season, leading to a 31-6 loss against UNI. With Northern Iowa being led by returning champ Parker Keckeisen and a number of All-American contenders at various weights, the Tigers will likely need both bonus points and upsets to try and snag this one before they start their season 1-3 for the first time since way back in 2010.
125lbs: Gage Walker (4-3) vs Kyle Golhoffer (2-1)/Trever Anderson (0-0)
Gage Walker will get another tough test in this dual, while the Panthers have two strong options. Anderson was the starter last season and just missed out on qualifying for NCAA’s despite wins over multiple qualifiers. He had a tough start to his season, and while he hasn’t hit any D1 competition, he took two losses to lower division wrestlers at the Grand View Open.
Golhoffer is a senior who started for UNI in 2023, going 7-13. He also took a loss at the Grand View Open but got the start in their only dual this season. There he took All-American Tanner Jordan to the brink, losing in overtime 7-4. Both Golhoffer and Anderson are lanky and strong scramblers. I think Walker can get to legs in this match, but finishing may be difficult. This should also be a challenge for the true freshman on bottom. Missouri is going to need points in this one, so I’ll take Walker after a solid win over Illinois.
Prediction: Gage Walker Dec. Kyle Golhoffer (MIZ 3 UNI 0)
133lbs: #30 Kade Moore (2-4) vs #28 Julian Farber (0-0)/Cory Land (1-0)
Another weight the Panthers appear to be figuring out, they have returning starter and qualifier Julian Farber or blue chipper Cory Land. Farber was solid last season but after an injury at NCAA’s has yet to compete this year. Land was a big recruit and redshirted in 2023 but missed 2024 with an injury. He’s looked good so far, bonusing his way through the Grand View Open and just recently upsetting #24 Derrick Cardinal.
