Winnetonka has had a pretty good past four days.
On Saturday, the Griffins captured a team trophy at the Joe Crouthers Invitational at North Kansas City High School when they placed third as a team in the tournament.
That success carried over in Tuesday’s dual against Grandview. In was a pinfest for the Griffins as they earned eight pins in 12 matches as they rolled to a 60-15 victory.

There were a pair of pins in particular that seemed to get the crowd and the Winnetonka bench fired up.
One of those was for sophomore Doone Taylor, who even has his own introduction at home duals. As he stepped onto the mat and went he stepped off following his match, there was an audible “Dooooooooone” that was bellowed from his teammates and the crowd.
He fed off the energy as he pinned junior Nathan Ly 1:37 after a pair of takedowns.
“It’s great to have people around me who want me to pin,” Taylor said. “It’s great to have a family here to have your back and cheer.
“My ankle picks worked pretty well. I also hit on my reshots. I was able to get to my offense and get some takedowns. I wrestled my style and my game and that helped me win.”
