Since last season, some of Van Horn’s wrestlers have made a big jump according to head coach Craig Addison.
Two of them showed why in a tri dual at St. Michael The Archangel Catholic High School Thursday.
Chandler Seavers (160) and Steven Campos (132) have vastly improved their records from last season and both earned two victories as Van Horn topped St. Pius X 48-33 and beat St. Michael 48-36. St. Michael topped Pius 45-30 to take second place.
Seavers improved to 19-10 on the season after having a sub.500 record in the 2018-19 season. After pinning Pius’ Charlie Davis in 1:40, he made quick work of St. Michael’s Joseph Rizzi, pinning him in 56 seconds with a cradle to seal the victory for the Falcons.
“My original strategy was to take it slow and have some fun with the kid,” Seavers said of his match against Rizzi. “Things didn’t work out quite like I wanted to. It was just go in there and get the job done.
