Fort Osage sophomore Colby Gray admitted he doesn’t like when the winner and loser of a dual is decided by his match.
But there is no one head coach Brandon Wackerman would have in that situation than the returning state medalist.

Gray was in that situation Thursday against Lee’s Summit as Fort Osage led Lee’s Summit 31-29 going into the final match.
Gray (150 pounds) controlled his match from start to finish against Noah Miller and came away with a 19-3 tech fall victory to help his team win 36-29 in the team’s final home meet of the season. The Indians also defeated Raytown 61-6 to sweep the tri dual.
“I was pleased with him finishing out and knowing what he needed to do,” Wackerman said of Gray. “There’s no one I’d rather have in that spot than a returning state medalist and a good, tough veteran. He’s as old of a sophomore as you can have.”
Gray said he was “all right” with how he wrestled on the night. He also pinned Gabriel Valdez-Ramos of Raytown to finish the day 2-0.
