If December gives us any hints as to how February will end up, this St. Louis district will be exciting to watch Valentine’s Day weekend in Cedar Hill, Missouri, at Northwest High School.
This top heavy district looks like the juggernaut it typically is as the athletes will have to run the traditional gauntlet to get to the big show in Columbia. CBC, Lafayette, and Seckman look to continue leading the pack as they have for the last several years with teams like Eureka, Lindbergh, Northwest, and Jackson bringing their own hammers to the show.
There is a guarantee for tough bubble matches that will lead to tough competitors missing out on their chance to head to Columbia while the victors will punch their tickets to battle for their spot on the podium on February 22nd.
Now, with December coming to a close, there is still a lot to be discovered when we wait to see what wrestlers drop weight classes and what wrestlers stay where they’re at. But that is information that only time will be able to tell us.
To some surprise, the “senior heavy” Jackson wrestling squad looks strong heading into the new year. They have eleven wrestlers in the district rankings on a team lead by their Senior at 195, Cole Amelunke.
