#12 Stanford over #21 Mizzou (27-15)

The Tigers dropped to 2-7 with a loss to Stanford at home. They had some high points, with Colton Hawks battling through an injury for a fall. They also had numerous close losses, which pushed this dual out of reach. There were some steps forward for the Tigers, but another loss continues the challenging season so far.

125lbs: #31 Gage Walker (8-4) – Forfeit

Nico Provo was listed in the probables and appeared to make the trip but didn’t weigh in for either dual.

133lbs: #10 Tyler Knox Maj. Kade Moore (12-2)

This match wasn’t short on entertainment with a number of high level back and forth scrambles. Unfortunately for the Tigers, Knox was a step ahead in most of them and earned a major. Moore had a nice reversal in the second, but Knox was a step ahead and had two of his own. Moore was close to some of his trademark scrambles and coming out on top, but Knox was able to keep up and turn them into back points for the major.

The score makes this look very one sided but it was a competitive back and forth match. Moore does a great job of threatening in different positions and making opponents uncomfortable, but when it doesn’t work it appears to demoralize him and lose some of that movement on bottom. It’s not quite a moral victory, but I did think that was one of his better matches as of late against a very difficult matchup.

141lbs: #17 Josh Edmond Dec. Jason Miranda (9-4)

Edmond looked improved here, with multiple double legs and a rarely seen tilt from top getting him the win. His cross wrist tilt hasn’t made too many appearances this season, but it was good to see him go for it here and get points with it. Miranda was difficult to score on and ready for the double leg, but Edmond had solid timing to score.
