Today, I sit down with one of Hillsboro’s Freshman Phenoms, Griffin Ray. A 138-pound Class 3 District 1 Champion, Griffin placed fifth, losing two matches by a combined three points. He’s one of those tall kids in a smaller weight class, presenting matchup problems – along with an Octopus-like demeanor on top. He’s definitely someone to watch, going into the 2020-2021 season.

Q: So, how’d you get here? What was your wrestling journey like?

I was 6 and they handed out a flyer at football practice. I wanted to try it.

Q: Are you more wrestler than a football player?
