The Battle At Katy Station, also referred to as the “mini-state tournament” for many class one schools, featured over 40 of mostly class one schools, giving it a pretty good case for the early season informal name.
#2 ranked Centralia is making an early-season case that they are ready to knock off defending state champs and currently ranked #1 Whitfield. Centralia earned the team title at the Battle at Katy Station by over 140 over second place Lathrop. Whitfield was not as this tournament but wrestled at the KC Stampede, taking home 12th place out of over 50 teams.
Centralia is a fairly young team but is very hungry and aggressive on the mat. Also, the lineup is so balanced with tough wrestlers at the book-ends of the lineup.
Centralia’s lineup who placed at the Battle at Kay Station included four freshmen, six seniors, and one junior. Two of the freshman were champs in Brayden Dubes at 106 and Brayden Shelton at 132. Other champs include Grant Littrell at 182 and Trevor Bodine at 195, both seniors.
