St. Paul Lutheran continuing process of team growth

By: Ross Martin

Entering the third year of existence, St. Paul Lutheran continues to seek out program milestones. Most notably, the Saints want to get back to the Class 1 Missouri State Wrestling Championships.

St. Paul Lutheran placed 15th out of 15 teams in last year’s Class 1 District 3 tournament with only two wrestlers in the field. Isaac Long, a sophomore, went 1-2 at 160 and finished his first season. He expects to return at 160 this year.

In 2018, Thomas Long reached the state tournament as St. Paul Lutheran’s first ever qualifier in his senior year. Sam Long, now a senior, missed the state field by one win in 2018, but he missed the postseason a year ago.
