St. Charles looking to avoid injury bug in bid to replicate last year’s breakthrough postseason run

By: Ross Martin

St. Charles may be replacing a pair of third-place finishers from last year’s Class 3 Missouri State Championships and three qualifiers total, but don’t think optimism is dimmed. The Pirates experienced a breakthrough season, and the final result could have been even better if not for an unfortunate injury.

“Outlook is very good,” St. Charles coach Kevin Dill said. “We have some young guys ready to step up and make a name for their self. Keys will be these young guys learning from their early losses and wins and preparing their selves for the district and state tournament. We always wrestle tough competition and seeing where some of these younger guys are will be key into how the end of the season will go for us.”

St. Charles placed third at Class 3 District 2 a year ago, just a half point out of second, with seven state qualifiers.
