Raymore-Peculiar graduated five of its nine boys state qualifiers from the 2018-19 squad, so the Panthers had a lot of newcomers entering the fold this season.
Not only that, the Panthers were missing some of their starters due to late weight certifications and injuries during the Coffman Invitational Saturday at Truman High School.
Even with having many new wrestlers on its varsity squad, that didn’t stop Ray-Pec from dominating the tournament as it took first place with 231 points. JC Harmon (Kansas City, Kan.) took second with 160.5 points and Grandview was third with 156.5.
The Panthers had four first-place finishers, two who took second and one third-place finisher. Not bad for a team that lost quite a bit of experience from last season’s team.
