After a tough home dual on Friday the Tigers stay home for another conference dual against Northern Colorado. They’re favored in every match but one where Gage Walker gets a big test in returning Big 12 champ Dom Serrano. With the dual being one-sided on paper, this could be a good opportunity to see some true freshmen get opportunities to start while keeping their redshirt.
125lbs: #24 Mack Mauger (15-8) vs Aydan Thomas (4-5)/Bryson Valdez (2-5)
Northern Colorado has options at this weight with true freshman Aydan Thomas who has one date left this season. At the Cougar Clash this year he beat Hank Benter and actually outplaced Mauger. He’s lanky and has some solid scrambles, with close losses to ranked wrestlers. They’ve also used redshirt freshman Valdez who has had more struggles this season. This could be a good spot for Mauger to open up and work his offense to push for bonus points.

The premier match, Walker gets another top 15 opponent this year with returning Big 12 champ Serrano. A two-time qualifier, Serrano was a top six seed at NCAA’s last season but had two upsets to go 1-2 at NCAA’s.
