Mizzou Transfer: Luke Geog

The Tigers made another transfer portal addition this offseason with two-time qualifier Luke Geog. Transferring from Ohio State, Geog is coming off a season where he was 3rd at Big 10’s and made the bloodround at NCAA’s. Originally from St. Edwards High School in Ohio, the same high school as former Mizzou wrestler Allan Hart. While at St. Edwards Geog was a state champ as a senior and finalist as a junior.

As the class of 2022 he was the #22 recruit overall before joining Ohio State. After a redshirt year he started as a freshman where he went 15-10 and qualified with multiple ranked wins at 197 while finishing 6th at Big 10’s. Unfortunately at NCAA’s that season he hit two top ten seeds and went 0-2. The next season he was injured at CKLV, ironically in a match against last season’s 197 transfer Evan Bates. After that injury Seth Shumate was the starter the rest of the year.

Geog earned the spot back in 2026 and went 18-9. Six of his losses were to All-Americans, while the other three included top 4 seeds Justin Rademacher (ORST) and Rocky Elam (ISU). At NCAA’s he came in as the #12 seed and had a first round overtime loss to the tricky Rune Lawrence (WVU). In consolations he reeled off four consecutive wins, including avenging his loss to Rademacher before coming up short against #9 Angelo Posada (STAN).

Geog has one year remaining which should allow blue chip recruit Aiden “Cash” Cooley a year to redshirt/sit depending on the recent 5 for 5 eligibility rulings. Regardless, Geog is a big addition to the lineup. This is also the second wrestler with Ohio State ties that Mizzou has won out on; Fugitt was rumored to have visited them and been between them and Mizzou. That shows that the Tigers national profile is only increasing as they continue to use the transfer portal well and have now brought in four quality wrestlers to plug in spots over the last two seasons.

Coming to Mizzou he fills the Tigers biggest remaining hole at 197 and now gives the team returning qualifiers at 125, 133, 141, 174, 184, 197, and 285. Geog is likely going to be in or near the top ten going into next season. I expect Mizzou to have top 12 wrestlers at 141, 149, 174, 184, and 197 heading into the start of next season which should push them into the top ten team rankings.
