After bringing in the #7 overall recruiting class per InterMat, it’s time to look ahead for the Tigers at an already strong 2025 class and potential additions.
Identifying targets can be difficult as Mizzou is clearly comfortable pulling recruits from most of the country. Keeping top wrestlers from Missouri has been a cornerstone, then they have strong ties to Wisconsin with Ben Askren’s AWA. Other states they have had recent success with include Texas, Illinois, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Idaho.
With such strong back to back recruiting classes, they don’t have any clear needs until wrestlers actually get on campus, find the right weight class, and see how development looks. The Tigers have done a good job of getting strong recruits at every weight change, so there are plenty of options to see where they may go.
They have also typically cycled between strong classes with a lot of recruits with ones where there may be 1-2 Big Boarders but not much else. With that trend appearing to change with 2024-2025, we’ll see what the 2026 Board ends up looking like.
Mizzou’s Current 2025 Class:
- #6 Seth Mendoza (IL)
- #10 Kollin Rath (PA)
- #23 Sampson Stillwell (MO)
- #52 Peyton Westpfahl (MO)
- #64 Dom Bambinelli (GA)
- #70 David Gleason (MO)
- #96 Danny Heiser (WI)
- UR Hank Benter (MO)
- UR Draven Johns (ID)
Another top ten ranking is obvious, with a strong argument for a top five with seven recruits in the top 100 and three in the top 25. With such a large and highly ranked class already, I don’t expect any huge names to be added to this class. However, if the coaches are looking to still add pieces here are some potential names to look out for that are still available.
#69 Blue Stiffler (GA)
Mizzou has tapped into Georgia recently with Jake Crapps (2024) and Dom Bambinelli (2025). The improving state has seven top 100 recruits for 2025 and Stiffler is the sixth. Aside from being a top recruit on name alone, Stiffler is a two-time state champ and three-time placer. Winning a title in South Carolina in 2022, Georgia in 2023, and finishing 3rd in 2024. He won a 16U Fargo freestyle title in 2023, actually beating incoming recruit David Gleason in the finals. He projects as a 149/157, joining recruits like Jace Roller, Danny Heiser, and David Gleason in similar ranges….
