We’re excited to introduce a comprehensive rankings system for Missouri high school wrestling that aims to recognize every wrestler who steps onto the mat. This first version represents our minimum viable product (MVP) – a basic foundation that lets fans explore and track wrestlers across the state. While simple in its current form, it serves as the launching point for what’s to come.
Unlike our traditional rankings that might focus solely on top performers or rely heavily on subjective opinions, our system takes a data-driven approach to evaluate wrestlers across all classifications and weight classes.
Our rankings are built on actual match results throughout the season, allowing us to highlight not just state champions and top contenders, but also the dedicated athletes who compete week in and week out at tournaments and duals across the state. Every match counts, and every wrestler has the opportunity to be ranked based on their performance.
How It Works
The system calculates rankings using match results and considers several factors, including wins, losses, and the strength of competition. As wrestlers compete throughout the season, their rankings will automatically update to reflect their latest performances. This dynamic approach means that athletes can see their progress and standing in real-time as the season unfolds.
Looking Forward
This is just the beginning – and we mean that quite literally. What you see today is the simplest version of what we envision for these rankings. We’re committed to continuously improving and expanding this system to provide the most accurate and fair representation of Missouri’s wrestling talent. Future updates will introduce additional features and refinements to the calculation method, all while maintaining our core goal: recognizing the hard work and achievements of every wrestler in the state.
We encourage coaches, athletes, and fans to check back regularly as we update these rankings throughout the season. Your feedback and suggestions are valuable to us as we continue to develop and enhance this system.
To view the current rankings, simply select a classification and weight class from the dropdown menus above. Whether you’re a wrestler, coach, parent, or fan, we hope these rankings provide valuable insights into the competitive landscape of Missouri high school wrestling.
Heads up for the intrepid readers who made it this far: This is version 1.0 of our rankings, so yes, there will be bugs. Some wrestlers might be ranked at multiple weights (they’re not actually wrestling two weights at once, but we figured someone would need that clarified). Teams with lots of out-of-state competition? We haven’t added those wrestlers to the database yet—but hey, thanks for pointing it out like it’s news.
We’re already working on it, and it’ll get fixed. In the meantime, feel free to ignore this note entirely and complain loudly. We’ve got popcorn ready.
