“We had a very good weekend, and the guys competed very well in a very competitive Invitational,” said Men’s Wrestling Head Coach Mike Machholz.  “This tournament featured many of the best teams in NAIA men’s wrestling, with 15 of the top 20 Nationally ranked teams.  I thought Joshua Isaac, Brayden Bradley and Joseph Rice competed well this weekend, all reaching the placing rounds.  I’m happy with the way our team finished in the top ten, but we dropped some potential points that could have gotten us even higher in the standings after having to take Karim Shakur out after getting dinged up early in the tournament.  This is the premier regular season event for our sport, and we get programs from all over the country to come and compete.  Teams from California, Arizona, Texas, Florida and everywhere in between make the trip here every year.  This event could not be pulled off without the great work done by everyone behind the scenes to get things going.  It takes a lot of work to hold this tournament, but everyone involved does a great job to make sure everything goes well.”

Missouri Valley finished No. 8 in the team standings, with 76 points.  Grand View (Iowa) won the team title, with 156.5 points, followed by Life (Ga.) in second at 147 points, and Cumberlands (Ky.) in third with 124.5 points.
