Missouri Valley College Women’s Wrestling Earns Home Dual Win Over St. Mary

Marshall, Mo. (Dec. 4, 2019)- The No. 14 Missouri Valley College women’s wrestling team hosted No. 20 University of St. Mary (Kan.) Wednesday evening inside the Burns Athletic Center for a KCAC dual.  The Vikings earned a 28-15 win, taking five of the contest weight classes, winning three by first period pins.

  • 101 pounds: Both teams left the weight class open.
  • 109 pounds: Missouri Valley left the weight class open against Brianna Mancillas, St. Mary leads, 5-0.
  • 116 pounds: No. 12 Freshman Shar Whitten (St. Joseph, Mo.) won, as St. Mary left the weight class open.  Score is tied, 5-5.
  • 123 pounds: Sophomore Addie Mejia (Sammamish, Wash.) defeated No. 16 Lauren Lopez in a first period pin (2:11).  Missouri Valley leads, 10-5
  • 130 pounds: Freshman Courtney Moran (White Fish, Mont.) lost to No. 17 Alyssa Bettencourt in a first period pin (1:48).  Score is tied, 10-10.
  • 136 pounds: No. 8 Sophomore Jocelyn Murphy (Jacksonville, Ill.) defeated No. 15 Karyn Larkin in a first period (1:35) pin.  Missouri Valley leads, 15-10.
  • 143 pounds: Missouri Valley left the weight class open against Mattea Potter.  Score is tied, 15-15.
  • 155 pounds: No. 7 Freshman Brooke-Lynn Rush (St. Joseph, Mo.) defeated No. 18 Freshman Emilee Danman in a first period pin (1:04).  Missouri Valley leads, 20-15.
  • 170 pounds: No. 13 Freshman Danielle Saldivar (El Paso, Texas) defeated No. 19 Megan Dougherty in an 11-0 technical fall.  Missouri Valley leads, 24-15.
  • 191 pounds: No. 10 Sophomore Mahealani Ramirez (Aiea, Hawaii) defeated No. 15 Jassmin Blount in a 10-0 technical fall.

Missouri Valley defeated St. Mary, 28-15.

Missouri Valley improves to 1-5 on the season in duals.

Next for the Viking women’s wrestling team is the NWCA National Duals in Louisville, Ky., Jan. 10-11.
