Liberty rolls in Iowa despite not having Reno

No Jeremiah Reno. No problem. It wasn’t an ideal situation when the Liberty wrestling team didn’t have its team leader available for the first big tournament of the season, but it wasn’t an issue either.

Despite missing their nationally ranked three-time state champion, the Blue Jays racked up 565½ team points at the two-day tournament Dec. 13-14, at the Mid America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

“Reno’s obviously a big part of our team, and we were missing him,” said Liberty senior Drake Smith, who captured the title in the 160-pound division. “But everyone stepped up, including our young guys, showing the future is bright.”
