Liberty North takes Joe Crouthers Tournament

By Michael Smith

Getting acclimated to a new team as a head coach is never easy.

Just ask Liberty North’s Lance Moore, who is in his first year leading the Eagles and is trying to rebuild a program that finished 41st overall in last year’s Missouri State High School Wrestling Championships in Class 4.

His team’s performance Saturday at the Joe Crouthers Invitational at North Kansas City High School was a step in the right direction in doing so. With powerhouses like Liberty (ranked No. 29 in the intermatwrestling.com national poll and No. 1 in the missouriwrestling.com poll), Staley and Park Hill resting their varsity wrestlers, that opened the door for Liberty North to take first with 358.5 points.
