Liberty Blue Jays complete their run to glory with history-making performance

By Chris Geinosky

COLUMBIA – After watching his team turn in one of the most impressive performances in state tournament history, Liberty head coach Dustin Brewer searched for the words to describe his team. He came up with only one.

“Proud is the word that comes to my mind,” Brewer said. “They worked really hard and did all the right things, and I’m just glad to see it pay off for them. This has been their goal since day one, to win the state title, and they got it done.”

Ever since coming up a little short of the ultimate prize last year, the Blue Jays have had one goal on their mind. And as it turned out, they wrestled out of theirs to make history at the 2020 MSHSAA Wrestling Championships.
