The Fight or Flight Tournament is a tournament that many of the elite-level wrestlers in Missouri use as a tune up before some of the bigger tournaments.

There are multiple big time freestyle and Greco tournament coming up including the U.S. Open, Southern Plains Regional Championships, Missouri USA Freestyle and Greco State and the U.S. Marine Corps Junior & 16U Nationals.

The Fight or Flight Tournament featured boys and girls of elementary-school, middle-school and high-school aged wrestlers. The tournament had a mix of round-robin and a single-elimination brackets. The event took place Saturday at Platte County High School, and it took nine mats to accommodate 219 wrestlers.

Below MissouriWrestling.com breaks down the results of the top finishers from Missouri in each of the high school freestyle cadet and junior boys divisions:

Cadet

100: Mexico’s Trevor Cole won by of his matches by tech fall, including a 10-0 victory over Paul Donnici of Kansas City to take his bracket.

106: Kearney’s Maysen Perkins went 4-0 in his round-robin bracket and only gave up three points and won all his matches by tech fall to win the first-place prize of a T-shirt.

113: John Cox was victorious in his first two matches leading up to his championship match against Staley’s Josh Hopkins. It was a low-scoring affair for most of the match, but Cox got four points in the last 20 seconds in an 8-1 victory in the championship match.

“I thought it went OK,” Cox said of his match with Hopkins. “I needed to get to my offense quicker. I got it toward the end and that and all that matters.”

120: Liberty freshman Rowdy Angst said there was one move that was working well for him. It was his duck unders and he got a lot of success from it. He had three wins by tech fall and beat Oak Grove’s Lex Johnson 12-7 as he went 4-0 in the round-robin bracket to take first place.
