The Centralia boys wrestling team has won two of the last three state championships in Class 1.
The Panthers are in a good position to make it three out of four after the first day of the Class 1 Missouri State High School Boys Wrestling Championships Wednesday at Mizzou Arena in Columbia.
They currently sit in first place with 63 points, as the Panthers hold a 5.5 lead over second-place Marceline. Cameron is third with 56 points and North Callaway and Warsaw are tied for fourth with 47 each.
Lawson (sixth, 45 points), Brookfield (seventh, 44) and Lathrop (eighth, 40.5) are in the mix for a state trophy, as well, which is awarded to the top four teams in the tournament.
Centralia has four wrestlers who advanced to the semifinals in their respective weight divisions. Below is a summary of the upcoming semifinal matchups that will take place today and how each wrestler got there:
106: Fatima senior Caden Rosentreter pinned North County freshman Bryson Twillman in 3:56 to advance to the semifinals, and he will take on Windsor junior Nico Punshon, who won a high-scoring affair with Lawson freshman Colton Diibon 21-17.
In the other semifinal, Brookfield freshman Colton Huwar will face Gallatin sophomore Nicholas Larsen. Huwar, ranked No. 1, won 15-5 over St. Pius X Festus junior Gavin Florek in the quarterfinals, while Larsen dominated in a 19-0 tech fall win against Warsaw freshman Julian Hernandez.

113: Centralia junior Waylon Adkisson,ranked No. 3, will have a chance at a state championship. He pinned Diamond sophomore Aaden Demery in just 40 seconds to advance to the semifinals. In the next round, he will take on No. 1-ranked Jayce Estes of Warsaw. The senior pinned Macon freshman Chase Cook in the third period.
On the other side of the bracket, Marceline senior Reese Stufflebean will meet Cameron senior Jack Erickson. Stufflebean, ranked No. 2, won his quarterfinal bout with El Dorado Springs freshman Sylas Fletcher by a 19-2 tech fall. Erickson took down Stover sophomore Brayden Jones by a 17-1 tech fall.

120: Stover sophomore Brodie Zeller, ranked No. 5, advanced to the final four after taking down No. 3-ranked Fatima senior Tucker Tune by an 8-4 decision in the second round. He will face California junior Connor Farmer in that bout. Farmer, ranked No. 1, coasted to the semifinals following a 20-4 tech fall win over Sherwood senior Wyatt Weekley.
In the other semifinal, Centralia sophomore Gradon Hedberg will take on Trenton junior Jacob White. Hedberg won by forfeit to advance, while White edged Lawson senior rayden Sullard 10-8 in the quarters.

126: No. 2-ranked Will Erickson of Cameron advanced to the semifinals after he pinned St. Mary’s South Side junior Audy Clark. He will take on Macon senior Rhett Pollard, ranked No. 5, who got a third-period pin od Maysville sophomore Wyatt Wolf to advance.
In the other semifinal, Warsaw senior Sean Reinertsen will take on LAthrop senior Garrett Beane, who is ranked No. 1. Reinersten pinned Trenton senior Cooper Houser in 2:38 to make it to the next round, while Beane got a second-period pin od his own over Valle Catholic senior Kalan Fallert.

132: Lafayette County senior Xavier Myers upset No. 1-ranked Nolan Laux in the first round after winning a 10-6 decision. He then advanced to the semifinals as he won a 12-4 major decision against Butler freshman Jarrett Blomquist. In the next round, he will see Marceline sophomore Roper Niemeier, ranked No. 4, who pinned Versailles sophomore Cole Hamrick in the second round.
On the other side of the bracket, St. Pius X Festus freshman Cainen Menke will see Cameron sophomore Colton Flick in the semifinals. Menke won by fall in 2:21 over University Academy sophomore Maquan Phillips-Rice in the quarterfinals, and Flick, ranked No. 3, won 5-1 against Blair Oaks freshman Owen Carver.

138: Valle Catholic junior Lucas Drury made his way to the semifinals after winning by fall in 1:33 over Brookfield senior Kameron Perry in the quarterfinals. To secure his spot in the championship match, he will have to get past Centralia junior Charles Robinson, ranked No. 3, who pinned Lawson sophomore Tallon Smidt to advance.
In the other semifinal, Butler senior Preston Mallatt will match up with Marceline senior Carter Wallis in a marquee matchup. The No. 2-ranked Mallatt earned a 15-0 tech fall win over Lathrop sophomore Rylee Dupingnac, while Wallis got a 17-1 tech fall over Maysville senior Bruson Jestes.

144: Lift for Life senior Ethan Doss, ranked No. 2, kept his state title hopes alive following a 14-3 major decision triumph against Summit Christian junior Matthias Mcgregor. He will see Lathrop sophomore Drake Coots in the next round. Coots edged Tipton junior Cooper Doss to make it to the next round.
Brookfield sophomore Jace Keller, ranked No. 5, also advanced following a pin in the first period over Warsaw sophomore Johrdan Decker. He will see No. 1 ranked Eli Sperry in the semifinals. Sperry pinned Palmyra sophomore Emmett Lorenson in just 16 seconds.

150: Lawson senior Conner Menke, ranked No. 5, will have a chance at a state title as he advanced to the semifinals after pinning Fatima sophomore Logan Lauz in 3:47. He will take on No. 1-ranked Damian Alkire in the semifinals. Alkire won 4-0 vs. California senior Jackson Barnard.
In the other semifinal, Carrollton senior Corbin Kelly will be in a bout with Diamond senior James Lafever. Kelly took a 15-5 major decision against Lone Jack senior Barrett White, while Lafever, ranked No. 2, earned a 14-7 decision over Cameron sophomore Brodi Jones.

157: Brookfield junior Weston Linscott advanced to the semifinals after a 7-1 win against Lawson sophomore Ryder Clevenger in the quarters. He will see Polo junior Chase Wilson, ranked No. 2, in the next round. Wilson won 7-3 over Cameron junior Carter Flick.
In the other semifinal, No. 4 ranked Emory Crawford will match up with North County senior Kellen Long. Crawford earned a 15-0 tech fall win against Maysville junior Colron Lemunyon, while Long, ranked No. 1, pinned Gallatin junior Wyatt Eaton in 1:08.

165: Maysville junior Cooper Ray pulled off an upset in the quarterfinals to advance to the final four after a pin against No. 2-ranked Dawson Litterall of St. Pius X Festus. He will take on Cole Camp senior Grant Rodriguez, who ranked No. 4 and won 14-7 against Centralia junior Louis Suddarth.
On the other side of the bracket, North County junior Collin Moore will face Marceline senior Cody Rodgers. Moore, ranked No. 1, won 6-0 against Sherwood junior Wade Green in the quarters. Rodgers won 5-0 against St. Mary’s South Side senior John Laplant.

175: Marceline junior Jagger Sportsman, ranked No. 2, made it to the semifinals after edging Cameron senior Tyler Estes 2-1 in the quarterfinals. Sportsman will match up with South Harrison senior Ethan Smith, who had a 17-1 tech fall win over North County senior Wyatt Haden.
On the other side of the bracket, Tipton junior Evan Ragsdale will face off with No. 1-ranked Rex Bryson of Centralia. Ragsdale pinned Maysville freshman Graham Kennedy in the first period and Bryson won by fall in the second period against Lathrop junior Remi Wolfe.

190: St. Mary’s South Side junior Aiden Timberman, ranked No. 3, won by a 10-2 major decision over Summit Christian senior Jack Brownlee in the quarterfinals to advance to the final four. He will see Maysville junior Carter Harms in the semifinals. Harms, ranked No. 2, advanced after a pin in 1:19 against Tipton senior Lee Fulks.
On the other side of the bracket, Warsaw senior Josh Harvath, ranked No. 1, will face Lathrop junior Justice James. Harvath won 11-2 against St. Pius junior Cody Shaver in the quarterfinals, while James took a 19-4 tech fall win against Marceline sophomore Markos Black.

215: North County sophomore Hunter Long advanced to the semifinals after he won 5-4 against St. Mary’s South Side sophomore Lavell Mccloud, who is ranked No. 4. He will see Versailles senior Wyatt Burks, ranked No. 3, made it to the final four by pinning Centralia junior Wyatt Burks in 3:22.
In the other semifinal, Penney senior Hunter Nixdorf will match up with South Harrison Crae Coffey. Nixdorf, ranked No. 2, took a 11-2 major decision over Kelly sophomore Gabriel Finn, while Coffey, ranked No. 1, got a lightning-quick pin in 11 seconds over Summit Christian senior Zachary Butler.

285: South Harrison Ruger Johnson will take on North County junior Gunnar Wenneker in the final four. Johnson pinned Palmyra junior Ace Harper in the first period in the quarterfinals, and Wenneker, ranked No. 1, won a 15-1 major decision against Cameron freshman Maclin Limb.
On the other side of the bracket, Summit Christian junior Noah Govro, ranked No. 5, will face Rock Port senior Ryder Herron. Grovo pinned Centralia senior Marshall Kable in 3:42 to advance, while Herron, ranked No. 2, won by fall in just 49 seconds against Bishop DuBourg senior Caden Mettlach.
