Blue Jays reign supreme in battle of state’s top two Class 4 teams

By Chris Geinosky

LIBERTY – It was supposed to the Class 4 wrestling dual of the year in the state of Missouri.

No. 1 vs. No. 2. Eighteen state-ranked wrestlers. Five returning state finalists from a season ago. And six more returning state medalists.

There was just one problem when Liberty and Park Hill locked horns. Three of the biggest names of the event were absent on the lineup card: Park Hill’s Ethan Miller and Ashton Sharp and Liberty’s Greyden Penner.

Despite the talented trio missing in action, the top two Class 4 teams in the state still put on a show Thursday, Jan. 9, at Liberty High School Fieldhouse. Under the spotlight in front of a nice-sized home crowd, Liberty once again proved why it sits atop of the MissouriWrestling.com team rankings by turning aside Park Hill, 54-15.
