The 2024 U.S. Marine Corps Junior & 16U Nationals witnessed an outstanding performance from Missouri’s wrestling team, particularly in the Greco-Roman division. Leading the charge was Chance Ruble, who, after a challenging start in freestyle with an initial loss, triumphed by securing 17 consecutive victories. His resilience culminated in a third-place finish in freestyle and the prestigious title of 16U 150 lbs national champion.
Ruble’s success was mirrored by his teammates, Miller Sipes and Carter Temple, both of whom claimed national championships in the Greco-Roman tournament. This remarkable feat propelled Team Missouri to a top 5 finish in the 16U Greco team standings.
The trio of Sipes, Ruble, and Temple not only dominated in Greco but also showcased their versatility by earning double All-American honors with placements in both freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling. Adding to the team’s accolades, Kyler Kuhn achieved All-American status by finishing 7th in Greco and 5th in freestyle. Noteworthy among the team was Carter Wallis, who placed 6th in Greco, becoming Hillsboro’s first wrestling All-American.
Missouri’s 16U team boasted several All-Americans:
- 190 lbs: Jace Renfro, 8th Place
- 285 lbs: Kyler Kuhn, 7th Place
- 126 lbs: Carter Wallis, 6th Place
- 132 lbs: Jet Brown, 4th Place
- 88 lbs: Wyatt Dannegger, 3rd Place
- 175 lbs: Carter Temple, 1st Place
- 150 lbs: Chance Ruble, 1st Place
- 138 lbs: Miller Sipes, 1st Place
Additionally, the Junior team saw Will Scherer achieve All-American honors with an 8th place finish at 157 lbs.
