The Tigers sent some wrestlers to SIUE’s Cougar Clash, and came back with four titles and some intriguing results. Some wrestlers pulled double duty, with Josh Edmond, Zeke Seltzer, and Zach Elam competing after wrestling in the Oklahoma dual the night before.
Zeke Seltzer had a concerning performance, going 0-2 and neither match being close. The weight cut has been discussed, and making it at night in one dual to the morning of an open was clearly significant. At his best Seltzer was right there with highly ranked opponents, but until things clear up it’s hard to feel good about 133lbs right now.
Josh Edmond won a title, only scoring one bonus point win but looking solid to not give up many points. Joel Mylin and Nate Pulliam split the 149lb title after both made the finals. Mylin got a big win over #19 Drew Roberts of Minnesota along the way. The other two titles came from the Elam bros, as both Rocky and Zach won.
Rocky made his season debut and had two bonus point wins. In the finals he beat #17 Garrett Joles of Minnesota. Zach is on a campaign to get 100 wins, and got four bonus point wins with three falls along the way. Taking away his 16-2 redshirt year, Zach has a 87-30 record….
