Both teams heading into this SLIAC Conference matchup were looking to build some momentum heading into the last portion of the season. These two teams will see each other at least two more times this season after this dual. The first is the SLIAC Conference Tournament and the respective Men’s and Women’s Regional Tournaments. The Westminster Men’s team enters the dual with an even dual record of 4-4 (1-0 in Conference). The Westminster Lady Jays have struggled a bit more in duals this season due to having several opens at different weights.
The Lady Jays kicked off the set of duals and took 2 out of the three individual matches (via technical superiority) contested. Despite this fact, the forfeits the Lady Jays gave up at open weights would end up costing them the overall team win.
The Westminster Men’s team started their dual by splitting the first four matches contested with Fontbonne and having a 12-12 tie entering the 165 lb. matchup. Fontbonne would secure another pin and a forfeit to build a 24-12 lead. The momentum shifted in Westminster’s favor beginning with the 184 lb. match.
