Updates from Nixa

US OPEN EXTRA

Two incoming Nixa freshmen wrestlers got a chance to compete on a big stage at the U.S. Open Championships in late April in Las Vegas.

Kaden Young and Reed Wilson were both the U15 in freestyle and Greco-Roman and each picked up a win during the event.

They also had the chance to watch Nixa state championship wrestlers Brennan Carey and Zan Fugitt compete in the event.

“They were testing the water, they were both fairly new to freestyle but both won a match,” Nixa coach Dustin Martin said.

Former Nebraska wrestler Christian Lance, a Nixa alum, placed eighth in the 125 kg senior freestyle division. It was the third year in a row he brought home a medal.

FARGO EXTRA

Many of the current Eagles are preparing for Fargo Nationals in July in Fargo, North Dakota.

Martin said that Brenya Crahan, Kelsey Watts, Addison Harkins and Taelor Dorr-Tilla will be wrestling in the girls tournament at Fargo

Brennan Carey will be there for the boys, while Zan Fugitt is planning on going but depending on how he does at the World Team Trials will ultimately make that decision.

Crahan is a two-time state champion for the Eagles and was third this year at the state meet. Watts was third place this year at 115 pounds. Harkins went 45-6 as a freshman and was the runner-up at 125. Dorr-Tilla is a two-time state qualifier at 149 and 145 pounds, respectively. She was third in the Central Ozark Conference tournament. 20
