With the 2024 season officially kicking off this week, it’s time to start looking at schedules. Mizzou is almost entirely dual focused this season, so let’s take a look at what that may look like. I’ll be using InterMat’s Team Dual rankings for this one, where Mizzou is currently ranked #3.
10/28: Black & Gold
This intrasquad dual is always hard to predict who we’ll see, but it’s a good opportunity to see some wrestle-offs at certain weights. Some good potential matches to look out for include 133lbs (Trey Crawford/Zeke Seltzer/Eric Lovelace), 141lbs (Kade Moore/Josh Edmond), 149lbs (David Cross/Carter McCallister/Nate Pulliam), 157lbs (Cam Steed/Logan Gioffre), 184lbs (Colton Hawks/Clayton Whiting), 285lbs (Seth Nitzel/Ryan Boersma).
11/11: Tiger Style Invite
The only tournament I expect the starters at this season is the Tigers new “home” tournament. Held at Staley High School, this year looks to include Cal Poly, Lindenwood, Little Rock, and Maryland. While not the deepest tournament, each weight should have at least one ranked matchup potential, and give some young guys a chance to get important matches.
11/19: #11 Arizona State (Home)
Coming into the conference next year, Arizona State should be one of the best home duals this season. The Sun Devils have eight starters ranked, including four wrestlers in the top four. Kicking the season off at home against a top team like this should give the Tigers a chance to get important seeding wins early. Last year Mizzou lost this dual 19-17 where they won four matches to six….
