When the dust settled at the Virginia Beach Sports Center, one thing was unmistakably clear: Missouri remains a powerhouse on the national wrestling map. At the 37th Annual NHSCA High School Nationals—the largest and most prestigious individual event in the country, athletes from the Show-Me State didn’t just show up; they commanded the podium.

Facing a massive field of over 6,000 competitors from all 50 states, Missouri’s elite wrestlers battled through grueling brackets modeled after the NCAA Championships. From the freshman looking to make a name to the seniors hunting one last high school accolade, Missouri athletes proved that our local mat culture translates to national hardware.

The Gold Standard and the Podium Parade

Leading the charge was Zyan Knollmeyer, who dominated the 285-pound division to claim a National Title. Knollmeyer’s performance anchored a Missouri contingent that saw nearly a dozen athletes reach the finals or the consolation podium.

The state also boasted an incredible run of silver medalists, with Brock Conaway (182), Carter Brown (220), Kaison Schreier (120), Luke Hayden (170), and Mira Richardson (138) all battling their way to the championship finals. Their runner-up finishes in these massive brackets represent a level of consistency that few other states can match.
