2020-2021 Outlook
Keys to success in the 2020-21 season:
It is beginning to just become the culture of our Willard Wrestling program to set lofty goals and achieve them. We have finished top 7 in the state four of the last five years, we have solid kids that are willing to be pushed and believe in themselves. Once you have a culture emerging with in any program the expectations to have a good year are always there. We want to continue to build our Culture and produce not only good wrestlers but great young men for the future. We were 6 points away from our first ever Team Trophy at the state tourney last season, we have our eyes on being able to bring one of those home to Willard.
Concerns about the lineup or challenges for the team this season:
We are senior heavy this year and I believe there will be a few of them have a stand out year. Some of them have been close in the past but with this being their last shot I think they will take that next step. We will be very young and inexperienced at 113, 120, 220, & 285. We have kids that will fill those positions that are tough kids but lack in their varsity wrestling experience.
Please list any impact freshman or transfers
As for underclassman to watch for, Andrew Keithley has had a great offseason and really gained confidence, he will have a shot of putting together a solid year.
Coach’s quote on overall thoughts about the team:
This season I’m sure is going to have its hurdles from the different “Covid” restrictions from county to county. We look forward to just competing at a high level and laying more bricks in the Willard Wrestling Foundation. We will have a very enjoyable group of guys which should make for a fun season. There are guys that have put in the time and commitment and I am looking forward to watching them reap the benefits.

What do you think?
