2020-2021 Outlook

Keys to success in the 2020-21 season:

Correct preparation is the key to success for the girls this season. We have multiple girls with at least one year of experience so we need to build off of what they do well but also improve in a lot of areas. They will need to grow their wrestling vocabulary and continue to sharpen the things they do really well. Preparing the right way with drilling and competing each day is what it will take for them to all take the next step.

Concerns about the lineup or challenges for the team this season:

With only having 5 girls out this season it gives us a limited number of practice partners and makes it tough to score a lot of points in tournaments. However, if last year showed us anything we know we can be successful with only a handful of kids.

Coach’s quote on overall thoughts about the team:

We have a great group of girls representing our program. They along with the girls before them started the foundation for this program and I believe we have the right kids to keep building. Payge Fuller is back as a returning medalist and she is focused on trying to win a state title. Her work ethic and approach to the practice room has set the example for the rest of our team. Her teammates are pushing each other every day to get better.

Coach’s quote on expectations for this year’s team:

I expect this group get better throughout the season and to peak around districts time. They are extremely coachable and they all work very hard. I expect Plattsburg to be represented at the girls state tournament again this season. It’s going to be a fun season with this group and I can’t wait to see where they all end up.
