2020-2021 Outlook
Keys to success in the 2020-21 season:
11 Freshman out this year, we have about 4-5 that can make the varsity line up and compete this post season. Keys for success is finding the right weights for each of them. Dakotah Courtney and Beau Garrett have been on the bubble to qualify the past 2 years so getting them to the next level is also a key in a successful season.
Concerns about the lineup or challenges for the team this season:
Challenges are we have about 4 solid kids around the same 3 weight classes so figuring out who will be bumping up and who will be able to drop down is the problem we are having now. After a succsefful football season we got a lot of kids in late. We all know as coaches the first weight cert we have is nowhere close to the weight kids can actually wrestle after a full season of high school practices. We might start the season off open in some spot just to allow for some of these freshman to lose some baby fat.
Please list any impact freshman or transfers
Nick Kessler 106
Carter Smith 132-145 Youth SQ
Gage St.Clair 138-152 Youth SM
George Freeman 182
All have had 4+ years of youth wrestling
How will the newcomers/transfers help?
Moberly wrestling needs this season to happen with a young team this year is more about getting them ready for the next 3 years. I think by Feb the freshman we have in the line up will upset some returning medalist.
Coach’s quote on overall thoughts about the team:
The past 3 weeks have been great. A lot of the younger kids are hanging well with the tempo of a high school practice and our returning medalist are doing a great job on showing on and pushing the younger kids. Fingers crossed that we can have a full season. This is going to be a fun team to watch and coach. Not every year do you get 5 returing youth kids that are ready to compete at the high school level, and returning medalist working harder than they have in the past.
Coach’s quote on expectations for this year’s team:
Expectations are the same every year get in the running for a team trophy.

What do you think?
