2020-2021 Outlook
Keys to success in the 2020-21 season:
We have to put in the work. We feel we have the right kids in the right spots to be successful, but we have to respect the grind. Our kids have to come in to the wrestling room everyday with a championship mentality and get better everyday.
Concerns about the lineup or challenges for the team this season:
As of right now we have a full lineup with some competition at several weight classes so, no I don’t feel have any concerns about our lineup.

Covid-19 has definitely presented a certain amount of challenges already for the start of our season. We have conducted virtual practices for students on quarantine and added extra precautionary measure in the wrestling room to ensure the health and safety of our wrestlers.

Please list any impact freshman or transfers
Randy Baker is an incoming freshman, expected to be at 145. Baker brings a lot of experience and has a great understanding of the sport.

Alex Horton is a transfer from Oklahoma who is expected to be our 182. Horton has strength and athleticism that you don’t typically see from a sophomore and were expecting big things from him.

How will the newcomers/transfers help?
Randy Baker and Alex Horton make us better by the competition they bring to the wrestling room. They are both first year guys who will step into the starting lineup. Preston Smith is moving to 152 and replacing Hunter Boyles, leaving a spot open at 145 where Baker will slide right in. James King and Chance Esparza wrestled up last year to fill spots. With Horton going 182 Esparza will drop to 170 and King will drop to 160.
Coach’s quote on overall thoughts about the team:
This is an exciting group of kids. We really pushed for the kids to have the mind set that every practice is an opportunity to prepare for state. The kids bought in and have set a level of expectation for how we work in the wrestling room. Last year we were young starting seven sophomores and three freshman and had a record year for El Dorado Springs winning their first conference championship and taking five wrestlers to state; the most ever for this program. Having these kids come back as Juniors and Sophomores has us ecstatic for the upcoming season.
Coach’s quote on expectations for this year’s team:
Coming off a record year for our program our expectations are high. We return 11 starters and feel we can beat last years success. The kids understand they have a conference title to defend and our overall goal is take more wrestlers to state and be able to compete as a team at the state tournament this season.
