Team Missouri traveled to Fargo for the 2024 U.S. Marine Corps Junior & 16U Nationals in freestyle wrestling and returned with eight All-Americans: seven in the 16U division and one in the Junior division.
A standout performer was Seckman’s Chance Ruble, who earned a 3rd place finish in the 16U division at 150 lbs. Ruble entered the tournament as the #7 seed and, despite losing his first-round match by one point (4-5) to Indiana’s Carter Fielden, made an impressive comeback. With 128 wrestlers in his bracket, a first-round loss could have been a significant setback. However, Ruble won 10 consecutive matches to secure third place. He dominated the consolation bracket, defeating the #3 seed 12-0 in the Consolation Round of 32 #2, the #5 seed 10-0 in the consolation semifinals, and the #11 seed 10-8 in the 3rd place bout. Fielden, Ruble’s only freestyle loss, also earned All-American honors with an 8th place finish. Ruble now aims to become a double All-American in the Greco portion of the tournament.
Other notable performances came from brothers Kyler and Rylan Kuhn of St. Pius, who both earned All-American honors with 5th place finishes at 285 lbs in the 16U and Junior divisions, respectively.
