There’s a reason the St. Pius X wrestling team is ranked No. 1 in the Class 1 boys poll on MissouriWrestling.com.
The Warriors certainly looked like a top team in Tuesday’s dual against Plattsburg. They won 13 out of 14 weight classes to cruise to a 77-4 victory at home.
The dual was an opportunity for St. Pius to get some work in before the Kansas City Stampede Tournament this weekend, which will feature some of the best wrestlers in the Midwest.
“We’re not in it for the duals that are going to 77-4,” St. Pius senior Jackson Rotterman said. “We got the Warrior Duals coming up. We are looking for some tough competition. We have a lot of young talent. We want to show everyone the hard work we are putting in.”
Rylan Kuhn, who wrestled in the 285-pound bout, certainly showed the hard work that he has been putting in to his craft. He took on Dakota Rankin and used a cradle to get a pin in 1 minute and 40 seconds to help cap the dominant team win.
“I am always looking to go out and dominate whoever I wrestle,” said Kuhn, who is ranked No. 1 in the 215-pound weight class. “I am looking for whatever pinning combination I can. It usually comes from a cross face.”
Gable Gross (150), who is ranked No. 1 in the 144-pound division, is a transfer from Odessa and made an already loaded Warrior roster even better. He, too, used a cradle to pin Reece Dixon in 1:33…
