After Day 1 of the Class 3 Missouri State High School Wrestling Championships Friday at Mizzou Arena in Columbia, the Crusaders are in the lead with 84.5 points.
They have a whopping seven wrestlers who advanced to the semifinals, which includes Zane Homan (106), Daemen Duemmel (120), Alex Wieburg (132), James Lauf (138), Eli Homan (165), Brock Lepage (215) and Zyan Knollmeyer (285).
Ben Holee (157) and Greg Cizin are still alive in the consolation bracket.
St. Michael The Archangel Catholic is in second place with 74.5 points, Kearney is third with 71.5 and Hillsboro is fourth with 51.5

106: Hillsboro freshman Tucker Williams will contend for a state championship Saturday as he kept his hopes alive following a 15-3 major decision against Gabe Crisham. Whitfield Matteson will be his opponent in the penultimate round. The freshman pinned St. Michael freshman Luke Bulloc in just 23 seconds.
On the other side of the bracket, Homan dominated his quarterfinal match as he advanced as he defeated Pacific freshman Gunner Knott by fall in 1:47. He will see Kearney freshman Tyler Bell in the next round. Bell pinned Mehlville sophomore Bryant Brown in 2:39.

113: Hillsboro Carter Pryor advanced to the semifinals and improved his record to 38-8 following his first-period, quarterfinal pin of Helias junior Greg Cizin. He will see Ft. Zumwalt South senior Mason Pullen in the next round. Pullen defeated Kearney junior Brayden Robinson 9-6.
On the other side of the bracket, Warrenton senior Nathan Donovan will take on St. Michael senior Landon Lane in the semifinals. Donovan won 10-5 against Winnetonka freshman Aaron Roberts, and Lane, a two-time state champion, pinned Hannibal sophomore Carter King in just 27 seconds.

120: Hillsboro senior Evan Litzinger finished 2-0 on Day 1 as he got a pin in the second round against Ft. Zumwalt South sophomore Joel Gumahin. Litzinger will take on Duemmel, who won by fall in 2:18 over Whitfield sophomore Nolan Londe, in the semifinals.
In the other semifinal, Hannibal senior Austin Brown will lock horns with Kearney junior Landon Westfall. Brown won by fall against Sikeston junior Louis Montjoy, and Westfall earned a 11-1 major decision against Lebanon junior Kalb Branch.

126: DeSoto senior Brenton Drummond edged Winnetonka senior Tyrre Broom 4-3 in the quarterfinals to move on to the next round. He will take on Carl Junction senior Camdon Kunkel, who won by fall in 2:16 over Belton sophomore Ravion Davis.
In the other semifinal, St. Charles Derek Plaza-Smither will take on St. Michael senior Parker Lutz. Plaza-Smither got a 19-4 tech fall win in 4:10 against Helias junior Klein Bonnor, while Lutz got a 21-6 tech fall triumph vs. Lebanon sophomore Joseph Garner.

132: Pacific senior Brock Webb made it through a tough battle with Washington junior Gable Ohm in the quarters to advance. He won 3-2 to punch his ticket to the semifinals. He will take on Wieberg, who won by a 16-0 tech fall in 4:42 against Warrensburg senior Dayton Dunn.
In the other semifinal, Warrenton junior Zayden Teson will lock up with Kearney junior Phoenix Shelton. Teston pinned Tyler Christensen in 1:30, while Shelton got a pin of his own in the second period against Willard sophomore Zach Kelly.

138: Whitfield freshman Julian Smith had a strong state tournament debut as he won 4-3 against Sikeston senior Brandon Crum in the quarterfinals. In the penultimate round, he will see Warrensburg senior Jaylen Civil, who won by a 25-10 tech fall against Carl Junction sophomore Jaxson Yaple.
At the bottom of the bracket, St. Michael senior Presley Hartwig made it to the final four following a 7-1 win over Hannibal senior Drake Brinkley. Hartwig will take on Lauf, who won 15-10 against Van Horn senior Dominick Paige.

On the other side of the bracket Whitfield senior Jackson Bassett will take on St. Michael senior Austin Stevick. Bassett earned a 9-2 decision against Marshfield freshman Gabrian Bridges, while Stevick won 11-0 over DeSoto junior Davis Miller.

150: Rockwood Summit Donovan Brown kept his state title hopes alive after winning by injury forfeit against Webb City sophomore Carson Rooks. He will see St. Charles senior D’Monta Bagby in the next round. Bagby took a 15-10 decision against Warrensburg senior Tate Cook.
In the other semifinal, Jefferson City senior Deegan Mitchell will face off with St. Michael junior Rowdy Narron. Mitchell edged Hillsboro senior Brady Armstrong 4-2, and Narron won 10-6 over Hannibal senior Korbin Whitley.

157: Poplar Bluff sophomore Zekey Camden made his way to the semifinals following a 19-1 tech fall win over Holee. He will see Kearney junior Kale Davis, who pinned Carl Junction junior Aaron Dillingham in 1:03 to advance.
In the other semifinal, Warrenton senior Max Teson will take on St. Michael senior Brody Narron. Teson won 7-4 against Smithville senior Cannon Hutchcraft, while Narron won a defensive match with Willard junior Gunner Puryear 1-0.

165: St. Michael sophomore Cole Sackett punched his ticket to the semifinals after getting a 7-0 win against Pacific senior Lucas Tennyson. He will take on Jefferson City junior Mikei Carver, who pinned Hillsboro freshman Patrick Buttner in 3:12 to advance.
On the other side of the bracket, Homan will face off against Belton senior Quinten Attebury. Homan got a 18-1 tech fall win over Hannibal junior Jaxson Essig, while Attebury got a 17-2 tech fall victory against Vianney senior Dominic Manta.

175: DeSoto junior Levi Huck will have a chance at a state championship as he made it to the third round following a 16-0 tech fall over Webb City senior Raiden Haggard. He will see Smithville senior Tristan Waters in the next round. The senior earned a 17-1 tech fall vs. Jefferson City senior Lucas Waite.
In the other semifinals, Lincoln College Prep senior Phillip Faigan will take on Camdenton junior Treyvontay Haire. Faigan edged Waillard junior Kade Shurtz 7-5, while Haire had a close match of his own against Vianney senior Luke Turmelle, in which he won 12-10.

On the other side of the bracket, Central Cape Girardeau Connor Poole will match up with Carl Junction senior Marcus Lopez-Durman. Poole won by fall over Warrenton senior Korben Johnson, and Lopez-Durman pinned Belton senior Jameson Lyons in just 32 seconds.

At the bottom of the bracket, Willard senior Porter Talbot will face two-time state champion Carter Temple of Kearney. Talbot took a 17-0 tech fall win against Hillsboro senior Caden Romaine, while Temple got an in just 48 seconds over Mehlville senior Alen Hasanovic.

285: Raytown senior Samuel Pilkington will be looking for his first state title on Saturday. He advanced to the semifinals after a 7-1 win against Carl Junction freshman Kage Stewart. He will take on Knollmeyer in the next round. Knollmeyer won by fall in 3:21 over Van Horn senior Jaylen Mitchell.
On the other side of the bracket, Winnetonka junior Laawk Ali will face Webb City Louden Bolinger. Ali won a match by injury forfeit against Bolivar senior Owen McCullah, while Bolinger won by fall in 2:46 over Kearney junior JD Romero.
