The Tigers hosted Illinois in the Stifel Theatre, the first sporting event at the historic venue. Streamed by UFC Fight Pass and with a great commentary crew of David Taylor and Jim Gibbons, Mizzou came away with a 29-6 win. They scored bonus points in three matches, winning eight overall. J Conway stepped up for his first dual start, dropping a close match wrestling up a weight. He did that so Keegan O’Toole could bump up to take on #3 Edmond Ruth at 174lbs in one of the most electric moments of the night. The team gets a short break for the holidays before competing against Virginia Tech on January 2nd.

Noah Surtin was able to get the only takedown in his match against an opponent who was trying to slow the match down. Kade Moore continues to pout up points, scoring his second major in a row. Josh Edmond looked like he was going to break the match open early, but faded in the third period. Brock Mauller got another bonus point win, and was close to getting another takedown as time expired. Clayton Whiting wrestled a bumped up 165, and put up takedown after takedown before scoring the fall. Even Keegan O’Toole was able to score multiple takedowns against Edmond Ruth. Illinois wrestled tough and were able to keep things close in some matches, but for the most part Mizzou was able to find different ways to score and put the pressure on….
