Wyoming Dual Preview
125
#24 Connor Brown (2-0) or Noah Surtin (1-1) vs. Brendon Garcia (0-1)
Thoughts: Brown or Surtin is a solid favorite here over Garcia. Brown looked really good last weekend and his top game would likely cause nightmares for Garcia.
I think we see Brown get the start here and I would expect that he uses his length and experience to his advantage in the neutral position. Brown is very savvy and can often score from positions where he looks to be in trouble.
Garcia has solid offense, but seems to struggle in scramble situations and was ridden hard by Jace Koelzer, of Northern Colorado last weekend. Koelzer is solid and is a borderline NCAA qualifier type of guy, but Brown is much better. I see Brown dominating this match and picking up a quick fall to set the tone for the dual.
Regardless of the result of Brown’s earlier match with #6 Drew Hildebrandt, this will be a big match to potentially bounce back in and or continue the momentum to the excellent start that Brown has been able to get off to this season.
Prediction: #24 Brown Fall over Garcia (MIZZ 6-0)
