All Time Record vs: 1-0
The last time Mizzou faced Binghamton was back in 2002 where they won 40-6, and I’m looking for Mizzou to get a shutout here. Binghamton does have two ranked wrestlers including one All-American in Louie DePrez. They’re a seasoned team having seven duals and two tournaments under their belt already this season. This will be their first dual of the day. After this dual, Binghamton and NC State will dual, then Mizzou faces NC State to determine the pool winner. This situation is very reminiscent of Mizzou facing UNI then facing Virginia Tech later in the day, so they should feel comfortable in this situation. The word is that we may see Matt Schmitt come back, but that is not confirmed.
125lbs: #15 Noah Surtin (4-1) vs Micah Roes (5-4)
Micah Roes was a qualifier last year, but this was with an EIWA conference tournament that wasn’t including Ivy League schools. He is a solid wrestler, but I think Surtin should win decisively here. Surtin can get a bit wild at times, so I’ll be looking to see if starts to clean things up before a tougher match later in the day. If he can get a takedown, I think he can go to work on top and rack up points to get bonus or even a pin.
Prediction: Surtin Maj. Roes 11-2 (MIZ 4 BING 0)
