No. 3 Missouri Scores Season-High Against Air Force

COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 3 Mizzou Wrestling (3-0, 3-0 Big 12) tallied two falls and three technical falls as the Tigers took down Air Force (0-1, 0-1 Big 12) 39-3 Thursday night at Hearnes Center.

Mizzou’s heavier six weights showed out against the Falcons, accounting for 30 of Missouri’s points beginning with junior Jarrett Jacques at 157 pounds, who recorded his first pin of the season. Redshirt sophomore Jeremiah Kent also picked up his first pin of the year at 184 pounds following two bonus-point decisions to open the season.

For the third consecutive dual, the Tigers only dropped one match as seven of the Tiger starters remain unbeaten on the season.

Top Tigers

  • Columbia natives Jacques and Kent recorded their first pins of the season, their eighth and 13th wins by fall, respectively.
  • Freshmen Rocky Elam and Keegan O’Toole have recorded bonus-point victories in every match this season, the only two unbeaten Tigers to do so.
  • Redshirt-sophomore Zach Elam posted back-to-back bonus-point wins for the first time since the Missouri Valley Open in 2020
  • Freshman Josh Edmond moves to 13-0 for his career following his 7-4 victory

From The Bench

“It’s a goal of our team to score bonus points in matches and we want to put big points on board,” head coach Brian Smith said. “We’ll get bigger and bigger and they’re going to continue to grow as we continue to score points like this. People are going to say, ‘let’s watch this.’”
