#11 Mizzou over #14 Northern Iowa (24-12)
After an injury marred Southern Scuffle, the Tigers were still hurting here. Connor Brown, Jarrett Jacques, and Keegan O’Toole were absent. Seltzer and Conway both used their fifth and final opportunity to compete attached and keep their redshirt. The team didn’t score any upsets, but took on a more than game Northern Iowa team. Surtin, Mocco, and Rocky all stepped up with bonus points. With this win Mizzou stays undefeated in conference duals and moves to 4-2 on the season.
Mizzou Interviews:
125lbs: #13 Noah Surtin Tech Kyle Golhoffer (16-0 4:34)
Surtin hit the ground running for the dual, with a second period tech fall. He scored on a leg attack early, then hit two throws for back points in the first period. In the second period he used a great step over to score a takedown and back points off a Golhoffer shot and get the tech.
Surtin’s always been good at throws, but his outside step is very successful at this point in the season. Post match he discussed needing to improve and increase his leg attacks as well. With his top game, if he is able to take opponents down in multiple ways then he should continue to have success.
