Updated every Tuesday, the rankings on the boys side move beyond our past human polls. We track every varsity match, result, and pin across all four classes to bring you an unbiased picture of who is rising, who is holding strong, and who is ready to make a run at State.
The Secret Sauce Our algorithm doesn’t care about hype. It cares about performance.
- Varsity Only: These rankings focus exclusively on varsity results (separate JV rankings are coming soon!)
- Strength of Schedule: Beating a State Medalist is worth far more than pinning an unranked opponent.
- Quality Loss Forgiveness: You shouldn’t be punished for tough competition. Losses to top hammers hurt less.
- Dominance Rewarded: Pins, tech falls, and major decisions boost your rating.
FAQ: “Why is my freshman ranked lower?” A returning State Champion starts with a high “Carry-Over” rating because they’ve proven they’re elite. A freshman starts with a baseline (limited history).
Is it unfair? Not at all — it’s realistic. Talented freshmen often debut outside the Top 25 but skyrocket up the board with varsity wins against quality opponents. We’ve seen it happen every year — the climb is real and exciting.
