USA Folkstyle Nationals marks the opening leg of youth wrestling’s most prestigious pursuit—the USA Wrestling Triple Crown. To earn it, an athlete must win national titles in Folkstyle, Freestyle, and Greco-Roman within the same year. In 2026, Missouri announced itself early, with three wrestlers capturing Folkstyle National titles and moving one-third of the way toward one of the youth sport’s highest honors.
Leading the charge was Kody Duran of Camdenton, who claimed the 14U 175-pound national title. For Duran, the moment carried extra weight. Two years ago, he stood one match away from the Triple Crown after winning both Folkstyle and Freestyle, only to fall just short with a runner-up finish in Greco-Roman. Now, back on top, Duran once again positions himself as a serious Triple Crown contender and Missouri fans are eager to see if this is the year he finishes the job.
Quentin Neal of Greater Heights also delivered a statement performance in the 14U 80-pound division. Neal, who already owns a national résumé that includes a second-place Folkstyle finish, a third-place Freestyle finish, and a Greco-Roman national title, opened his 2026 Triple Crown campaign in dominant fashion. He won four of his five matches by bonus points, showcasing relentless pace and control throughout the tournament. With Folkstyle gold secured, Neal now turns his attention to the Olympic styles with momentum firmly on his side.
In his first appearance at Folkstyle Nationals, Kal Thompson of King Select proved he belonged on the national stage. Competing in the 10U 77-pound division, Thompson won all four of his matches by bonus points, pinning three opponents before the second period. His combination of elite athleticism and technical precision stood out in every bout. As he transitions into Freestyle and Greco-Roman, those same traits will be critical as he chases his own Triple Crown path.
Missouri’s presence extended well beyond the top of the podium, with athletes across age groups delivering podium finishes and hard-fought performances that reflected the depth of wrestling in the state.
