Mexico Tames Tigers and Panthers, Lose to Brookfield

Mexico Tames Tigers and Panthers, Lose to Brookfield

It appeared that the Mexico Lady Bulldogs were up to full strength in their numbers during the introductions at the start of the quad meet.  This is a good time of the season to be healthy and ready as the post-season is right around the corner.  The team was looking to rebound after losing to NCMC rival Fulton in last week’s dual.

After speaking with Coach Senor and a few other coaches in attendance, there were several illnesses or injuries that have come up recently for the other teams, but they would toe the line nonetheless.  The other coaches are hoping to have their rosters back up to full strength by the time the district tournament rolls around a week and a half from now.  Both Palmyra and Kirksville will be at Mexico’s District Tournament.

Below are the Results of each dual from the quad meet for the girls:

Overall, the Mexico Lady Bulldogs went 2-1 as a team with several of the ladies going undefeated on the night and notching three more individual wins for each of them.  It may have been a late night for the Lady Bulldogs, but overall a positive feel for the night.  Tessa Higgins closed out her conference schedule with a strong 8-1 victory at 159 lbs.   And more importantly, no one for the Mexico Lady Bulldogs, no one got hurt heading into the home stretch of the schedule.

With their victories against Kirksville several of the Lady Bulldogs will be in consideration for individual NCMC all-conference honors at the end of the season.  This would include Katherine Bowen, Kaylynn Pehle, Abbigale Drew, Matty Tolbert, Alizabeth Welch, and Shelby Shramek.  (These ladies either went undefeated or sustained only one loss in NCMC dual competition this season.)

It will be another quick turn around for the Mexico Lady Bulldogs as they will travel to Battle High School for their last regular season dual on Wednesday evening.  They will get a one pound allowance for the consecutive day weigh-in.  Battle is also in Mexico’s District Tournament and so each matchup will have a potential impact on the seeding meeting set to take place next week.

After Wednesday, the Lady Bulldogs will travel to Seckman to put a capstone on their regular season as the following week is District Tournament week.  There are currently 29 teams scheduled, including seven District 2 opponents.  The Mexico Lady Bulldogs are scheduled to attend their District Tournament at North Point High School in Wentzville.
