After an extended break (Thanksgiving Break) some teams ease back into things, especially considering a lot of schools now take the full week off for Thanksgiving. But not the Mexico Lady Bulldogs. They previously wrestled at tournaments the Saturday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving to kick off their season. They then hit the ground running on Monday, following the Thanksgiving Holiday, with a trip to the Hallsville Lady Indian Classic.
Hallsville, is a Class 1, District 2 tournament opponent along with Hannibal, Kirksville, Highland (a first year girls wrestling program), Macon, North Callaway, Palmyra, and South Callaway. This gave the Lady Bulldogs a solid look at a good portion of their District opponents they will have come February.
Highlights:
Overall the Lady Bulldogs fared better than their last competition (at Versailles) and finished with a combined record of 17-18 for this tournament, with 11 of these victories against District 2 opponents. As a team they finished in 3rd place with 89.5 points behind Ritenour and the tournament champion Centralia (112.5 points).
