The dual between Lee’s Summit North and Liberty North looked like it would be a tightly-contested one.
And boy was it ever.
Both the Eagles and Broncos came in with one loss each in the Suburban Gold Conference, the winner would be put in the driver’s seat for second place behind Liberty.
It came down to the final match as Liberty North held a 35-33 lead going into the 126-pound bout. However, the Broncos’ Paden Cole didn’t leave a whole lot of suspense about who would win the dual as he got a quick takedown and pinned Cole Nichols with a cradle in 44 seconds to help Lee’s Summit North win 39-35 Wednesday at home.
“He’s really starting to put together some really good matches,” Lee’s Summit North coach Mick Cronk said. “It’s one of those things where he figured out his style and what he wants to do. He’s doing a really good job the last couple of weeks.”
Paden said he didn’t worry about the score and that he wrestled as if it were any other match.
“I got the first takedown, got on top and used the crossface,” Cole said.
