KMO Cowbelle Dual Preview: Ranked Talent, & Rivalries Set the Stage for Friday Night Action

The KMO Cowbelle Dual Tournament returns this Friday with a stacked field of Class 1 and Class 2 programs, bringing together some of the top-ranked teams and individual wrestlers in the state. With eight schools represented and dozens of ranked athletes expected to take the mat, the event promises high-level competition, meaningful duals, and postseason implications.

Team Outlook

Leading the way on the Class 1 side is No. 1 Kearney, boasting six ranked wrestlers and depth throughout the lineup. The Bulldogs will be tested by No. 3 Odessa, which brings four ranked athletes of its own, and No. 9 Brookfield, a program that continues to make noise with three ranked competitors.

In Class 2, No. 2 Fort Osage enters as one of the tournament favorites with six ranked wrestlers, including multiple athletes ranked first in their respective weight classes. No. 10 Belton adds further intrigue, fielding five ranked wrestlers and a lineup capable of swinging close duals.

Other participating schools include Excelsior Springs (Class 1), Platte County (Class 2), and Staley (Class 2), each bringing experienced competitors who could play spoiler and create momentum-shifting results.

  • Fort Osage’s strength is evident in the middle weights, with 2 No. 1 wrestlers Jauzlyean Gray (135) and Ariel Biggs (140) anchoring the lineup.
  • 145 pounds is stacked with ranked talent, including Class 1 No. 1 Bella Palmer (Odessa) and multiple ranked wrestlers from Kearney, Belton, and Fort Osage.
  • Upper weights feature dominant performers such as Class 1 No. 1 Carli Vargas (190, Kearney) and Class 2 No. 4 Fort Osage’s Hali Windes (235), with Staley and Belton adding ranked depth in the heavyweight division.
